Franchelle C. Millender

Founding member, Franchelle C. Millender, passed away in October 2023. She was a prominent elder law attorney in South Carolina, and throughout the country, who served in leadership positions of numerous organizations and advocated tirelessly for the elderly and those with special needs. Ms. Millender cared deeply for her clients. She was skilled at guiding clients through the legal, financial, and emotional challenges of aging and special needs planning. 

Ms. Millender was in the first group of elder law attorneys in the nation to sit for the certification examination to become a certified elder law attorney (CELA) through the National Elder Law Foundation. She maintained her status as a CELA continuously from 1995 until her passing. 

Ms. Millender was also the principal author and editor of A Practical Guide to Elder and Special Needs Law in South Carolina, Second Edition, published by the South Carolina Bar. 

Ms. Millender was a wonderful mentor, boss, and friend to the staff of Millender Elder Law LLC. The firm of Millender Elder Law LLC is striving to continue Ms. Millender’s incredible legacy of devoted service to the elderly and people with disabilities.
