Andrew J. Atkins, Attorney at Law

Andrew J. Atkins was admitted to the Bar in 2006, joined the firm in 2007, and became a member (partner) in 2021. He graduated cum laude from Furman University with a Bachelor of Arts degree and earned a juris doctor degree from the University of South Carolina Joseph F. Rice School of Law.

He practices primarily in the areas of estate administration, estate planning, guardianships and conservatorships, and long-term care planning. Mr. Atkins is a member of the South Carolina Bar and served as Chair of its Elder Law Committee from 2016 to 2018. He is a member of the Richland County Bar Association, the National Academy of Elder Law Attorneys, and the South Carolina Chapter of NAELA. Mr. Atkins is the current President of the South Carolina Chapter of NAELA and was selected as Outstanding Chapter Member of the year for 2013.

Mr. Atkins teaches Elder Law at the University of South Carolina Joseph F. Rice School of Law with Sarah Garland St. Onge. He has planned numerous seminars for the legal community on Elder Law topics and has done presentations on Elder Law and Estate Planning for various community groups.

Mr. Atkins is a contributing editor and author of A Practical Guide to Elder and Special Needs Law in South Carolina, Second Edition, and  The Paralegal Survival Guide – Facts and Forms, Third Edition, both published by the South Carolina Bar.
